Berkeley Prep's football team may have been eliminated but the volleyball squad recently celebrated another state championship.
The Buccaneers defeated North Broward Prep 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 24-26, 25-21) to earn the Class 3A championship, its 14th in program history. The state title was the third of the 2000s for
Berkeley Prep (Tampa) but the first back-to-back state crowns since 1998-99.
Click here to view MaxPreps' Florida volleyball playoff brackets.Plant (Tampa) also added to its volleyball history, winning a fifth straight state championship. The Panthers dominated Boone (Orlando), winning with a 25-13, 25-14, 25-16 sweep in the Class 6A final.
For Plant, the win earned the program its 10th overall state championship.
And
East Lake (Tarpon Springs) earned its first volleyball state championship in program history by beating Stuart Martin County. The Eagles won 3-0 (27-25, 25-16, 25-17) to take the Class 5A championship.
