MaxPreps 2015-16 Rhode Island preseason high school boys basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. La Salle Academy (Providence)
2014-15 record: 22-2
Head coach: Eric Simonelli

Not only was La Salle excellent last season, but it was also very young. The large cohort of returners is led by Lawrence Sabir, a first team all-state selection. The diminutive guard plays much bigger than his frame.

2. Barrington
2014-15 record: 21-5
Head coach: Patrick Sullivan

Corey Daugherty, who scored countless big buckets for Barrington over the last two seasons, is gone. Looking to fill the void will be 6-foot-9 center Matt DeWolf, a second team all-state pick.

3. Bishop Hendricken (Warwick)
2014-15 record: 17-7
Head coach: Jamal Gomes

Justin Mazzulla was one of the best sophomores in all of New England a season ago. He earned first team all-state honors and is poised for an even better junior campaign. He and Matthew Ricci will form a formidable one-two punch.

4. Classical (Providence)
2014-15 record: 12-13
Head coach: John Kavanagh

Much of the hope for the 2015-16 Classical basketball season rests with 6-5 forward Jamari Johnson. He averaged nearly eight points, nine rebounds and four blocks per game. He could improve in each of those categories as a junior. Rodney Theodore, the second-leading scorer last season, also returns.

5. North Kingstown
2014-15 record: 18-7
Head coach: Aaron Thomas

North Kingstown returns center Dylan Thomas, and should be able to pencil in Thor Brochu for a larger role in the offense. The same is true of Teddy Roberts.
