According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, three Wisconsin high school girls basketball players are averaging better than 28 points per game entering the final days of January.
Nyajuacni Riak of
Madison La Follette leads the list with 28.8 points per game for the 16-2 Lancers. The 6-foot-2 guard has netted at least 30 points in six games, including a career-best 50 in a victory over Janesville Parker. Riak is one of the top sophomores in the nation.
Second on the list is
Josie Christian of
Lomira, tallying 28.3 points per game for the 13-4 Lions. The 5-7 guard has 30 points or more in six games, including a career-high 39 in a win over Omro.
Sheplee, a University of Wisconsin commit, averages 28.2 points per contest for the 15-2 Warriors. The 6-3 wing has posted at least 30 points in eight games, including a career-high 45 in a win over Eau Claire North. She has over 1,800 career points.
Kussow, a University of Minnesota recruit, tallies 27.2 points per contest for the 15-1 Warhawks. The 6-0 guard has netted 30 or more points in eight games this season, which includes a season-high of 41 in a victory against Providence Academy of Minnesota. She is fourth on the state's all-time scoring list with 2,415 points.
Nordin rounds out the top five on the scoring list, averaging 26.5 points per game for the 11-6 Hawks. The University of Wisconsin commit scored a season-high 39 points in a win over Pulaski. The 6-2 wing scored her 2,000th career point earlier this month, making her the 46th player in state history to achieve the feat.
