New Mexico football leaders on offense

Underclassmen hold the No. 1 positions in three of four major offensive categories this week in New Mexico, according to MaxPreps statistics.

Saul Trujillo, a junior wide receiver from Hatch Valley (Hatch) is the first to account for 100 points, reaching that total with 12 touchdowns, one field goal and 23 extra points. He also is the No. 10 rusher with 652 yards (130.4 per game).

A sophomore, Darion Williams of West Las Vegas (Las Vegas), is the leading rusher with 892 yards, which averages to 178.4 per game and 7.9 per carry. In addition, he is the No. 2 scorer with 92 points.

Hobbs junior Gavin Hardison is the leading passer by a wide margin with 1,775 yards, or 355 per game. He has completed 124-of-232 passes for 19 touchdowns and thrown three interceptions. He has completed 35 of those passes to another junior, Alec Finney, who ranks No. 4 with 531 yards and has 10 touchdown catches.

Hobbs senior wide receiver Cason Clay leads in pass receiving with 595 yards - a 119-yard average for 20.5 yards per catch.

Micah Gray, a senior running back from Clovis, is No. 1 with 15 touchdowns, No. 3 with 90 points and No. 4 with 783 rushing yards.
