Utah high school football rankings: Corner Canyon headlines preseason MaxPreps Top 25

Chargers out to restore dominance with fourth state title in five years.

The high school football season in Utah kicks off in less than two weeks with 52 games scheduled for Aug. 11-12. After going 12-2 and reaching the Class 6A state championship game last season, Corner Canyon (Draper) headlines our look at this year's contenders in the preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

Head coach Eric Kjar has led Corner Canyon to a 63-3 record during his first five seasons with state titles in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Expect the Chargers to be hungry to regain their crown this fall after falling to Skyridge (Lehi) in last year's championship game.

Next in line under center at Corner Canyon is Isaac Wilson, the younger brother of current New York Jets signal caller and former Chargers star Zach Wilson.

Skyridge enters the season as the team to beat by some media outlets behind senior quarterback McCae Hillstead, who threw for nearly 2,500 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior while running for over 800 more and 13 TDs.

Lone Peak (Highland) – the team that stopped Corner Canyon's title run last November – has holes to fill but should be in the title mix once again. The Knights have emerged as perennial championship contenders, winning 10 games or more in five of the past seven seasons.
