Faith Simpson does a lot of things well on the basketball court for Wauneta-Palisade girls basketball coach Matt Cox, averaging 21.2 points, 1.7 assists, 8.8 rebounds and 6.2 steals per game in 2016-17. But in a Dec. 16 47-31 win over South Platte, the 6-0 junior produced Nebraska's lone girls triple-double of the season according to the MaxPreps stat database.
A returning second team All-Republican Plains Activity Conference selection, Simpson ripped the cords for 10 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, dished out an assist and got her hands on 13 steals in the 16-point triumph over the Blue Knights lifting her to the top of this week's Nebraska girls individual basketball performances Top 10.
But don't be fooled. Plenty of other Cornhusker State athletes had the hot hand as well, including Friend's Raeleigh Menke, who managed to land in the No. 3 and No. 5 spots of this week's Top 10. In those two contests, collectively, Menke scored 43 points, pulled down 31 boards, dished out a dozen assists, was credited with nine steals and blocked three shots.
Holdrege's Karli Hale, who played a major role in upending Hastings Adams Central, and Jessica Harvey's 35-point outburst climb into this week's Top 5 at No. 2 and fourth respectively.
The stats used for this week's Top 10 were pulled off of the MaxPreps database Tuesday, Dec. 27.
