Johnston (Iowa)
won its third straight Class 5A state championship and finished undefeated for the third straight year to run its streak of consecutive wins to 79 in a row coming out of the 2025-26 high school girls basketball season.
The Dragons' streak is a state record in Iowa. Johnston broke both the 5-on-5 record, which was 58 in a row by
Newell-Fonda (Newell)
from 2018-20, and it also beat the 6-on-6 record, which was 60 in a row by Garnavillo in the early 1950s.
Since 2020, Johnston has reached the Class 5A championship game six times with four state championships and a record of 171-6. Head coach Chad Jilek has a career record of 293-54 in his 14 years as head coach.

Lynden (Wash.)
has the second-longest active win streak at 74 in a row with three straight state championships and a three-year record of 81-1. Lynden's total ranks third in state history behind
Colton
, which piled up 79 in a row from 2013-16, and
Ellensburg
, which ran off 76 in a row from 2021-24.
Princess Anne (Virginia Beach, Va.)
is also third in state history with its 71 straight wins. The Cavaliers rank behind
Millbrook (Winchester)
, which had 84 in a row from 2010-13, and
Poquoson
, which won 76 in a row from 1975-77.
Seward
has also broke the Alaska state record for consecutive wins with 56 in a row.
Grace Christian (Anchorage)
held the previous record of 52 between 2018-20.
Read on for a look at every team with a streak of 10 or more wins coming out of the 2025-26 season. Streaks are based on scores reported to MaxPreps.
