Columbus (Miami) begins its quest for a fifth straight Florida high school basketball state title in the FHSAA's largest classification as postseason play begins Saturday.
The Explorers enter the playoffs 21-6 after a regular-season slate that saw them take on teams from nine different states.
Columbus, which won four titles behind Cayden and Cameron Boozer, is now led by McDonald's All American
Caleb Gaskins. He is averaging 21.4 points and 9.1 rebounds for the Explorers as they open postseason play with
Doral Academy (Doral).
Should they hoist the Class 7A trophy, Columbus would be in rarefied air. Only two teams nationally have won more than four straight titles in their state's highest classification but none in a state as large as Florida.
