MaxPreps 2015-16 Sac-Joaquin Section preseason high school girls basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

Saint Mary's (Stockton) is featured in the California Fab 5 and thus not listed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Fab 5.

1. Vanden (Fairfield)
Head coaches: Allison Johnson, Jake Johnson
2014-15 record: 30-4

The Vikings return two of their top three scorers, including Utah-bound point guard Kaina Moore, who averaged 13.2 points and 3.2 steals per game. Julia Blackshell-fair, a 5-foot-10 wing, is considered one of the top five juniors in Northern California.

2. Brookside Christian (Stockton)
Head coach: Pico Wilburn
2014-15 record: 27-4

The defending Division IV Northern California champions return NorCal's second-best player and leading scorer Aarion Mcdonald, who averaged 28.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 6.4 steals per game. She's headed to Washington. Sophomore Kendall Weary (6.7 ppg) will need to pick up her scoring to help out McDonald.

3. Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills)
Head coach: Stephen White
2014-15 record: 27-5

The Trojans lost plenty to graduation, but White always seems to regroup quickly with the next group. This one will be led by 5-10 sophomore guard Hailey McCoy, who led a very balanced team last season with an 8.7 scoring average. White, whose team won a state title in 2010, has won between 27-30 games six of the last nine seasons.

4. Antelope
Head coach: Sean Champers
2014-15 record: 27-3

The Titans return their top three scorers, including 5-8 senior guard Angelica Baylon (15.4 ppg) and 5-9 junior shooting guard Nadia Johnson (15.6). Nia Johnson (13.1), a 5-8 guard, is one of the top sophomores in Northern California. Antelope lost in the NorCal D-2 quarterfinals to eventual state champ Archbishop Mitty.

5. McClatchy (Sacramento)
Head coach: Jessica Kunisaki
2014-15 record: 27-7

The defending state Division I champions looked in good shape to repeat until their best player, 6-3 post and Washington commit Gigi Garcia, went down with a knee injury in the offseason. A return late in the season is an outside possibility. The Lions' second-leading scorer Jordan Cruz (10.4 ppg) also returns as does starting guard Kristy Wong (7.0).
