David Gabriel Georges of
Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.) is the 2025 MaxPreps National High School Football Player of the Year. The junior running back joins a list of past winners that includes Derrick Henry (2012), Kyler Murray (2013, 2014), Derrick Brown (2015), Bryce Young (2019), Jaxson Dart (2020) and Caleb Downs (2022).
Georges led Baylor (12-0) to its first undefeated season since 1973. The Red Raiders knocked off Brentwood Academy (Brentwood) 28-24 in the Division II Class AAA state championship game behind 212 total yards and two touchdowns from their star running back.
For the season, Georges rushed for 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns. He joins Riley Dodge, Kyler Murray and J.T. Daniels as the only non-seniors to be named the MaxPreps National Player of the Year.
Georges is the first Canadian-born player to earn the nation's highest high school football honor. Originally from Quebec, he enrolled at Baylor prior to his sophomore year.
In a 56-35 win over rival McCallie (Chattanooga) in the state semifinals, Georges ran 32 times for a career-high 431 yards and seven touchdowns.
During the regular season meeting against McCallie, he had 25 carries for 282 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-35 win.
As a sophomore, Georges ran 114 times for 1,103 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Georges is the first player from Tennessee to be named the MaxPreps National Player of the Year. He is the third running back to claim the award joining Johnathan Gray and Derrick Henry and the first since 2012 when Henry won the award after rushing for 4,261 yards and 55 touchdowns at Yulee (Fla.).
