Smith was named the MaxPreps National Player of the Year, averaging 31.5 points per game and leading the Knights to the Open Division state championship with a 56-49 win over
Archbishop Mitty (San Jose).
Harris coached Faith Christian to a Division IV state championship despite having just 52 students in the high school. The team's only loss was to Norther Section Division III champion
Chico while posting wins over Sac-Joaquin Section Division III champion
Placer (Auburn) and North Coast Section Division III champion
Miramonte (Orinda).
Along the way, Harris' daughter,
Lauren Harris, capped a career that included a national record 742 3-point field goals for a four-year varsity career. Under coach Harris, the Lions are 133-26 in five seasons with four league championships, three Sac-Joaquin Section banners, two NorCal titles and a state crown.
