Windward High's Jordin Canada is the MaxPreps California Girls Basketball Player of the Year after willing her team to the state championship matchup.

Despite being small in stature, Windward's Jordin Canada stands tall among the California girls basketball Player of the Year candidates.
Candidates for the MVP honor included 6-foot-4 Bishop O'Dowd center Oderah Chidom, 6-3 Ridgeview center Erica McCall and 5-9 La Jolla Country Day guard Kelsey Plum. However, in the end it was the 5-7 Canada who stood tallest among her peers and earned the award of MaxPreps California Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Canada led Windward to a 32-1 record, which included a Southern Section 4AA championship and a No. 1 seed for the Southern California Open Division regionals. Windward reached the state final before losing its first game of the season, a 60-45 defeat to Bishop O'Dowd.
Along the way, Canada earned Southern Section 4AA player of the year honors and was also named the Los Angeles Times all-area MVP. Canada is also the only California player on the MaxPreps All-American Girls Basketball First Team.
Other divisional MVPs include Chrishae Rowe of Santiago (Corona) in Division I, McCall in Division II, Chidom in Division III and Tiara Tucker of Brookside Christian (Stockton) in Division V.
The MaxPreps California Girls Basketball All-State Team includes a five-member first and second team for each division. There is also a 30-member overall squad with a first, second and third team and 15 honorable mention selections.
