Video: Stat Stars - October 21A pair of state record setters from the Midwest highlight this week's national high school football stat stars.
Alex Huston of Glendale (Springfield, Mo.) set the state record for passing yards in a season after throwing for 538 yards in a 60-41 win over Camdenton last week. He has 4,638 yards on the season, passing Eric Czerniewski of Montgomery County (Montgomery City, Mo.), who threw for 4,407 yards in 2005.
Huston also tied the state record for touchdowns in a single game with nine, matching the mark set last year by Glendale quarterback Alex Austin.
Meanwhile, Blake Evans of Southport (Indianapolis) broke the state record for receptions in a game when he had 21 catches for 256 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-41 win over Columbus North.
Rasheed Golden of Ida Baker (Cape Coral, Fla.) came close to setting a state receiving record, as he also had 21 catches, for 254 yards and one touchdown, in a 47-20 loss to Port Charlotte. The state record in Florida is 22 catches by Frank Mobley of Suwanee (Live Oak) in 1972.
