MaxPreps Game of the Week: No. 10 Duncanville and No. 16 Allen bring postseason rivalry to the regular season

Panthers have taken two of three playoff meetings since 2016 but can they get it done at Eagle Stadium?

Two Texas powers collide in the MaxPreps Game of the Week when Duncanville visits Allen to kick off the 2026 season in the Lone Star State.

No. 10 Duncanville and No. 16 Allen have combined for eight state championships since 1998 and 10 MaxPreps Top 25 finishes in the past decade.

The last three times the programs have met came in the postseason. Allen won 42-23 in the 2016 6A Division 1 quarterfinals. Duncanville bounced back in 2018 with a 44-35 semifinal victory that ended a 30-game win streak for the Eagles. The Panthers also prevailed 31-9 in a semifinal showdown last season.

Both teams are loaded with high-profile recruits. 

Duncanville is led by four-star wide receiver Trenton Yancey, a Purdue commit that put up 1,258 all-purpose yards and a team-high 17 touchdowns last year. Junior offensive lineman Kendrick Harris is a four-star prospect, the No. 1 player at his position nationally and No. 21 overall in the Class of 2028.

The Panthers feature several other three-star recruits in athlete Brayden Arnold, cornerback Jonathan Barnes, offensive lineman Aiden Williams and defensive lineman Janero Welch.

A trio of MaxPreps Preseason Sophomore All Americans lead the charge for Allen, including linebacker Raiden Johnson, wide receiver Zach Williams and quarterback Ty Snell, who is regarded as one of the nation's top signal callers in the Class of 2029.

Other key players for Allen include three-star Wisconsin commit James Roberson, Colorado pledge and three-star lineman Jayin Talib, three-star defensive lineman and North Texas commit Jacobie Wilkerson along with uncommitted three-star recruits in Dominic Butler and Jaden Davis.
