It was a rematch of the Open Division Southern Section title game just 10 days ago, a 59-53 Sierra Canyon win.
Inside a packed venue, Sierra Canyon was led by McDonald’s All Americans
Brandon McCoy and North Carolina signee
Maximo Adams.

The Trailblazers trailed 40-39 with three minutes left in the third quarter before Adams helped orchestrate an 11-0 run to take a 50-40 lead. Harvard-Westlake stopped the bleeding with seven minutes to play.
Adams had 26 points in the game including five made 3-point baskets. He helped lead Sierra Canyon to a Division 1 state title last season when he had 14 points and eight rebounds with LeBron James sitting courtside at Golden 1 Center.
McCoy has also won a Division 1 state crown, getting it done at
St. John Bosco (Bellflower) as a sophomore in 2024. Tonight, the five-star uncommitted senior guard had 10 points, four steals and a pair of thunderous slam dunks.
Harvard-Westlake senior
Joe Sterling, a Texas signee, along with junior
Cole Holden kept the Wolverines in the game by combining for eight 3-pointers.
But with 2:22 left, Adams helped seal the win with a two-handed slam to push the lead to 56-49.
Sierra Canyon (29-1) heads to Golden 1 Center looking for its third Open Division state crown and fourth overall California championship.
