Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding
performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close
out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state.
Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in
addition to local and state accolades.
Tyran Stokes of
Rainier Beach (Seattle) is the 2025-26 MaxPreps Washington High School Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot-7 senior wing led the the Vikings to a 29-1 record and their second consecutive state championship.
For the season, Stokes averaged 31 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four steals per contest while shooting 53 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free throw line.

In a 75-53 victory over Lincoln (Tacoma) in the Class 3A state title game, Stokes finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. He also recorded a triple-double with 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in an 86-65 quarterfinal triumph over O'Dea (Seattle).
Establishing a new career-high, Stokes scored 63 points in a 107-38 win against West Seattle (Seattle) in January.
Stokes is regarded as the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2026 according to Rivals. He has narrowed his college list down to finalists of Kansas, Kentucky and Oregon.
Each
state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in
the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released in
