MaxPreps Student SectionDavid Schwark has been going about his business this spring for the C-Hawks. The
California Lutheran (Wildomar, Calif.) senior first baseman has been a productive and consistent cleanup hitter for the past two seasons. Schwark was a first team all-Arrowhead League selection as a junior, and is looking to build on last season's success. Opposing teams still struggle to silence David at the plate.

The C-Hawks entered the third full week in April with eyes on the upcoming spring break. Schwark, who is one of three senior captains on the team, helped keep his team focused on two important league contests before the 10 day break. The C-Hawks defeated Upland Christian Academy on Tuesday, April 19th by a slim margin of 6-4. Schwark played flawless defense at first base, scored a run, and hit a single that allowed two of his teammates to also score.
The very next day, Wednesday, April 20th, the C-Hawks faced another formidable Arrowhead League opponent in Boys' Republic. Cal Lutheran took control early in the game, and cruised to an 11-2 victory over the opposing Rams. These two road wins were very important for Cal Lutheran. They needed to win both games in order to be eligible for the Arrowhead League championship. Schwark scored one run, drew a walk, and had an RBI single.
The senior first baseman has played at a high level for this entire 2011 season. Schwark has done a great job of leading his team with his exceptional play on the field. He has been a good example for underclassmen, quietly going about his business each and every day. Schwark is batting .306 through 14 games, has scored 14 runs and driven in 17. Along with being a patient hitter; he has drawn 13 walks, boosted his "on base" percentage to .481 and is currently second on the team with 10 stolen bases this season.
The C-Hawks have put themselves in position to win their third consecutive league title. However, this season has not been as easy. Cal Lutheran has been jockeying for position all season long with league foes Hamilton, La Sierra Academy, and La Verne Lutheran. These four schools have played some very exciting games, and Cal Lutheran will look to show these up-and-coming teams that they are still the top dogs in the Arrowhead League. With Schwark leading the way for his club with his bat and glove, the C-Hawks are in great hands.
