247Sports reporter Kipp Adams, the
New Manchester (Douglasville, Ga.) senior has just signed a financial aid agreement with Georgia, guaranteeing him a scholarship for the 2016 season.
He might be the last player from his recruiting class to earn a FBS scholarship.
Unrecruited largely because of academics, Herrien was noticed by new Georgia head coach and then-defensive coordinator Kirby Smart while at New Manchester a year ago. Smart noticed Herrien playing basketball, told him to keep in touch and the 6-foot, 205-pound running back kept his promise.
He rushed for 1,873 yards in 10 games last season — sixth-most in the state — improved his grades, and this week accepted the offer from Georgia. He went from being not recruited to a running back in probably the strongest conference in the country.
Hi story and path is quite unique.
"It feels so good - I have been waiting on this moment for a long time," Herrien told Adams. "I want to be just as good as Chubb and Todd Gurley or even better. I think I can make an impact."
Clearly, he already has.
