As the high school football season in Georgia reached the halfway point
last weekend, several quarterbacks throughout the state are on pace to
put up monster numbers.
McIntosh (Peachtree City) quarterback
Tate Morris is on pace to run for 1,000
yards this season. But it's his arm that has him sitting atop the
MaxPreps leaderboards. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior has already
thrown for 1,565 yards and 11 touchdowns to just three interceptions in
2022.
Averaging 313 yards an outing through five games, Morris
has thrown for 300 yards or more three times during the Chiefs' 2-3
start to the season, including an outing in which he connected on 23 of
36 passes for 380 yards and three touchdowns in a 61-40 loss to Central
Sept. 9.

career,
Northwest Whitfield (Tunnel Hill) signal caller
Owen Brooker has thrown for
1,427 yards and 15 scores during the Bruins' 4-1 start.
Having thrown for at least 200 yards in each contest this fall, Brooker
has collected three 300-yard outings including a season-high 371 yards
in a 35-31 win over Coahulla Creek Aug. 26.
Junior
Sire Hardaway of
Douglas County (Douglasville) sits third after throwing for 1,328 yards
during a 3-1 start to the season for the Tigers. Head coach Johnny White's star
slinger had a 410-yard outing against Mays in a 49-41 win.
Carrollton freshman
Julian Lewis has burst on to the high school
scene with 1,315 yards and 19 scores as the Trojans have won five
straight contests to kick off the 2022 campaign.
Aaron Philo of
Prince Avenue Christian (Athens) rounds out the top five with 1,299 yards and 12
touchdowns, including 452 yards and six scores during a 49-14 win over
Athens Academy Sept. 2.
