Video: Sam Mausbach's highlights vs. PlatteviewSee the Roncalli Catholic senior forward in action. As the Nebraska girls high school soccer season prepares to hit the stretch run, we've crunched the numbers here at MaxPreps in an attempt to determine which programs have made the most substantial climbs in MaxPreps' Computer Rankings.
And we have a tie at the top.
North Platte and Omaha Roncalli Catholic both rose 15 spots in Tuesday's updated 2017-18 rankings over MaxPreps' Final Computer Rankings from a year ago, topping the other 64 Cornhusker State programs that have played the minimum amount of games required to claim a spot in the rankings.
In calculating these turnarounds, it has been determined that the team displaying the most improvement in its won-loss record from the previous season, is the victor in the case of a tie.
North Platte gets that nod, taking over the top spot after improving its record by 3.5 games from 2016-17, while the Crimson Pride made a two game improvement and earned the No. 2 slot this week.
Omaha Burke improved its record a third best 13 spots, while Bellevue East and Omaha Concordia round out the top five after each climbed 11 spots upward. Bellevue East earned the No. 4 spot after improving its record by five games. Omaha Concordia, meanwhile, edged Waverly and Omaha Duchesne as well after the Mustangs improved their won-loss record by two and a half games.
Of the programs that landed in this week's Top 10, Gretna holds the highest ranking at No. 5. Besides the Dragons, Omaha Roncalli (10th), Waverly (13th) and Omaha Duchesne (15th) are sitting in the Top 15 after going through subpar campaigns a year ago. Of the 10 schools listed this week, North Platte, Omaha Burke, Omaha Concordia and Kearney have all produced winning records after suffering through below .500 seasons a year ago.
