Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Aaliah Spaight of
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) is the 2025-26 Nevada MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-7 senior point guard led the Gaels to a 23-3 record and Class 5A state championship. She previously earned the honor in 2023-24.
For the season, Spaight averaged 21.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 5.7 steals per game as Gorman won its second state title in three seasons.

Spaight led the Gaels with 23 points in a 79-76 double overtime win against Democracy Prep Agassi Campus (Las Vegas) in the state final before being carried off the court by the boys basketball team.
After a 14-14 season in 2022-23, Bishop Gorman went 63-15 over the past three years thanks in part to Spaight. The Gaels will likely end the 2025-26 campaign ranked among the top 25 teams nationally by MaxPreps.
Regarded as a top 25 prospect in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports, Spaight signed with Texas in November. She will participate in the McDonald's All American Game in April.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released in April. Past selections include 2025 WNBA Most Valuable Player A'ja Wilson (2014) along with 2025 All-WNBA selections Aliyah Boston (2017, 2018, 2019), Paige Bueckers (2018, 2019), Napheesa Collier (2015), Sabrina Ionescu (2015, 2016), Kelsey Mitchell (2014), Nneka Ogwumike (2008), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and Jackie Young (2014, 2015).
