MaxPreps 2014-15 Florida preseason girls basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Potter's House Christian (Jacksonville)
2013-14 finish: 32-6
Head coach: Tony Bannister

The Lions return their top three scorers, including the nation's No. 13 sophomore in Rella Boothe (19.1 ppg, 10.6 rpg), a 6-foot-3 forward. The two other top scorers are seniors Denisha Swain (12.3) and Ra'Jean Martin (8.5). Potter House did lose four co-captains to graduation but also returns 6-6 junior Naomi Ekwedike. Sophomores Charsie Johnson (7.0) and Jasmine Gaines (6.6) were other big contributors last season.

2. Ribault (Jacksonville)
2013-14 finish: 29-5
Head coach: Shelia Pennick

The two-time defending 4A champions return their top two scorers in junior Kayla Rogers (10.5 ppg) and sophomore Rennia Davis (12.0 ppg). The Trojans will need to find a way to replace the senior leadership of Sierra Shepherd, but fourth-leading scorer Dayneshia Banks (9.3), a sophomore, should contribute. Ribault is a perennial state power with 10 state championships. With such youth, coach Shelia Pennick has a dynasty in the making.

3. Dunbar (Fort Myers)
2013-14 finish: 29-2
Head coach: Dwayne Donnell

The 4A runner-up to Ribault returns its top four scorers, led by seniors Keri Jewett (15.4 ppg) and Kiara Desamours (14.6), who averaged a team-best 8.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore Dekeriya Patterson (11.8) and junior Respect Leaphart (9.6) should also score in double figures for the Tigers. Dunbar lost in the state finals 72-53 and under coach Dwayne Donnell it hopes to win a second state title, the other coming in 2012. The Tigers have gone 87-6 the last three seasons.

4. Sarasota
2013-14 finish: 26-5
Head coach: Robert Jutras

The Sailors, 7A semifinalists last season, return four of their top five starters including the top two, senior guards Camille Giardina (11.8 ppg) and Zharia Grable (10.3). A pair of freshmen last season, Madison Pack (7.8), a 6-3 post, and Ja'da Bennett (7.0), a 5-9 forward, should be much improved and look for them to average in double figures this season.

5. Miami
2013-14 finish: 33-1
Head coach: Sam Baumgarten

With reigning Florida State Player of the Year Beatrice Mompremier returning, the defending state 8A champions will have a giant X on their backs. The 6-4 post averaged 14.5 points, 13 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game and last summer she made the USA U-18 basketball team. She's the No. 42 recruit in the country, according to ESPNW. Miami's challenge will be to replace five strong seniors who graduated.
