High school girls basketball: Longest active win streak in every state

After winning its third consecutive state championship, Johnston carries a 79-game streak into the season. The Dragons already own Iowa's five-player record and have surpassed the state's six-player standard of 60 consecutive victories by Garnavillo.

Lynden could make history early in the season. The Lions have won 74 in a row and need five victories to match Washington's record of 79, established from 2013-16 by Colton. Princess Anne starts with 71 consecutive victories, putting the Cavaliers 13 wins away from matching the Virginia record of 84 held by Millbrook (Winchester).

Seward (Alaska), fourth nationally with 56 consecutive wins, joins Johnston in entering the season with an opportunity to extend its own state record.

Panhandle (Texas) follows with 37 consecutive victories while Medfield (Mass.) and Oostburg (Wis.) are tied at 36. Medfield needs 28 more wins to surpass the Massachusetts mark of 63 held by Braintree.
