Voters in the Katy school district on Tuesday approved a bond package plan that would provide $58M to fund the construction of a high school athletic facility in the district,
according to a report from the Associated Press.
The news comes roughly a year after voters in the district rejected a package that put a $69M price tag on a new stadium.
The approved stadium will seat approximately 12,000 fans. According to the district website,
it is home to 10 high schools.
According to the district Twitter account, it is the second-fastest growing district in the state and the 23rd-fastest growing in the country.
The $58M price tag seems steep, but falls short of the $63M stadium built by Allen.
That stadium closed earlier this year after cracks were found in its foundation.
