FOOTBALL: MAINE SOUTH GETS PUT ON PROBATIONMaine South (Park Ridge, Ill.), which has won the last three Class 8A state football titles, has been placed on probation until Dec. 1, 2011 by the Illinois High School Association, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Violations included using counterfeit sideline passes at the state finals and failure to follow rules on the number of coaches allowed on the field and in the press box. Head coach Dave Inserra and assistant Rick Magsamen have been suspended for the 2011 season-opening game.
