No. 10 DESOTO GAINS REVENGE WITH ROMP OVER STONY POINTStony Point drilled
DeSoto (Texas) twice last season, 46-29 and 72-48, but that was last season. On Friday,
Raheem Wilson fired three touchdown passes and DeSoto overcame a slow start to win 42-7 at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex.
According to the Austin Statesmen, it was Stony Point's first loss at the complex in six years. The nation's 10th-ranked team turned the tables by dominating in all phases and improving to 4-0 this season.
"We didn't want to talk about last year's loss,"
Bryson Echols, one of 14 starters who returned to DeSoto this season, told the Statesmen. "We still had that thought in our heads. It was a wonderful feeling."
It wasn't so good following an 82-yard touchdown run by
Braizon Fresch that put Stony Point up 7-6 late in the first quarter.
Two touchdown passes from Wilson led to a 22-0 run to give DeSoto a 28-7 halftime lead. From that point, DeSoto romped. DeSoto has now outscored its four opponents 193-23.
