CATS Academy National (Boston, Mass.) Vs Dream City Christian National (Glendale, Ariz.)
Saturday, 11:30 a.m.
The second of three Nike EYBL Scholastic games for Dream City Christian this weekend at Flyin’ To The Hoop, this game will tip off just 17 hours after their Friday night showdown against Wasatch Academy. Class of 2028 guard
Mateen Cleaves Jr. will be a name to watch for Dream City Christian. Cleaves' father, Mateen Cleaves was a standout at Michigan State as the only three time All-American in Spartans program history while also leading them to the 2000 national championship. Cleaves Jr was a star performer at Orchard Lake St Mary’s as a freshman and was offered by the Spartans in August. Dream City Christian will take on a CATS Academy squad led by Loyola Chicago commit Jaxson Terry and Fordham commit Desmond Bellot Jr. This will be a big Nike Scholastic league weekend for CATS Academy, who played just one conference game in December but have eight league games scheduled for January, two this weekend at Flyin’ To The Hoop.
Wyoming (Cincinnati, Ohio) Vs Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio)
Saturday, 1:15 p.m.
The Cowboys have been one of the most successful programs in southwest Ohio the past few seasons and have loaded up their schedule this winter with numerous tough non-conference contests. Their senior class headlined by
Kellen Wiley,
Carlyle Billingsley,
Devin Evans and
Darren Gray came into this season 72-10 in their varsity careers. The goal this season for Wyoming will be to finish at UD Arena with a state championship. The Cowboys have fallen in the regional final to Kettering Alter and state semifinal to Zanesville Maysville the past two seasons. Wyoming has next level talent as both Wiley and Billingsley are committed to Ashland University. The Cowboys will face a Wayne squad that is tough to beat at Flyin’ To The Hoop. Last season Wayne went just 14-9 but secured a massive victory over Garfield Heights at Flyin’ To The Hoop. Current seniors
Isaiah Thompson and
Kaden Post combined for 16 points and 11 rebounds in that victory over Garfield Heights while
Dontay Chivers pitched in with five points as a freshman. Now a sophomore, Chivers has taken the step into a lead role for the Warriors and he’ll have a tough match-up against the loaded Cowboy guard trio of Wiley, Gray and Evans.
Lima Senior (Ohio) Vs Brunswick (Ohio)
Saturday, 3 p.m.
Both Lima Senior and Brunswick took down powerhouse national programs last season at Flyin’ To The Hoop as the Spartans defeated Pace Academy (GA) 69-61 while the Blue Devils beat Faith Family Academy (TX) 63-56. This season, the two OHSAA powerhouse programs take on each other with star players returning on both sides. For Lima Senior, they are led by one of the top 2027 prospects in the state in Shawn Foster. Northern Kentucky commit
Willie Foster is one of the most electrifying athletes in the country and the Spartans also added some talent in the 2028 class with Aazaad Burton and Jeff Williams III transferring from Lima Central Catholic and forward
Elynn Stearns transferring from Flyght Academy. Brunswick is led by arguably the best guard duo in Ohio with IU Indy commit
Trey Drexler and Flagler commit
Sean Barnett.
Adin Evert and
Drew Matus are two younger prospects to watch for the Blue Devils, who have consistently been near the top of the Greater Cleveland Conference under head coach Joe Mackey. With Lima Senior in Division II and Brunswick in Division I, both of these teams will hope to return to Dayton in March for the state championship.
Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) Vs St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio)
Saturday, 4:45 p.m.
St. Ignatius has been one of the top OHSAA programs during the past decade, winning the 2024 OHSAA Division I state championship. The Wildcats have a new leader on the sidelines as Tom Parker was elevated from assistant to head coach this year after previous head coach Cam Joyce took a head coaching job in California. St. Ignatius is led by arguably the best wing trio in Ohio with Akron commit
Roy Jones, unsigned senior
Alex Mack and sophomore
Carlos Vaughn Jr. Wasatch Academy will counter with their front court duo of top 150 senior
Chidi Nwigwe and international senior
Vuk Lazarevic. Keeping those two guys off the offensive glass will be crucial for St. Ignatius in this one. The Wildcats are no strangers to Flyin’ To The Hoop, beating Moeller last year after losing to Oak Ridge in 2024.
Southeastern Prep Academy National (Orlando, Fla.) Vs Lutheran East (Cleveland Heights, Ohio)
Saturday, 6:30 p.m.
One of the most talented teams in the country takes on an OHSAA powerhouse in what is a star-studded match-up. Southeastern Prep brings in two of the top five prospects nationally in the 2027 class with
CJ Rosser Jr. and
Obinna Ekezie.
Beckham Black is another nationally ranked 2027 prospect, the younger brother of NBA lottery pick Anthony Black. NBA ties run deep with this Southeastern Prep team as Jason Richardson’s son
Jaxon Richardson is their highest ranked senior prospect. Lutheran East certainly won’t back down from a challenge as they have won three straight OHSAA state titles and last season gave Huntington Prep a challenge at Flyin’ To The Hoop. Star 2028 guard
Dylan Zeigler scored 27 points against Huntington Prep last season and could have an encore performance against an even more talented opponent. Zeigler is joined by 2027 guard duo
Chris Hill and
Tyrone Harrison, while forwards
Jerome Davis-Gayle and
Devontey Perkins will look to keep the Southeast Prep front court off the glass.
Fishers (Ind.) Vs Centerville (Ohio)
Saturday, 8:15 p.m.
Fishers had one of the longest winning streaks in the country last season as they won the 2024 IHSAA 4A state championship and went into the 2025 4A championship undefeated. Their 43-game winning streak was snapped by Jeffersonville in the state title game, making the Tigers even hungrier heading into the 2025-26 season. For Fishers, it all starts with the 2027 guard duo of
Jason Gardner and
Cooper Zachary, a pair that has dozens of Division I offers. Transfer
Kai McGrew gives Fishers added size on the interior as another Division I prospect as he plays alongside fellow senior Ethan Hillsman in the frontcourt. This game won’t be easy for Fishers, as Centerville has a lot of talent itself. Junior
Sam Keely is the leading returning scorer for Centerville at just over eight points a game last season. Fellow junior
Trey Sam was just behind him at over six points a game. Trey’s younger brother
Julian Sam is regarded as one of the best freshmen in Ohio. Add in Miami East transfer
Ty Rohrer, and the Elks have a nice mix of new names, size and experience. Centerville has been very successful at Flyin’ To The Hoop. Under head coach Brook Cupps the Elks defeated Louisiana powerhouse Isidore Newman in 2024 and So Cal Academy in both 2022 and 2023.
