Baseball Recap: Belleville West Comes Up Short

The Belleville West Maroons came up short against the Christian Brothers Cadets on Monday and fell 6-1.

Colton Ferrara was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Belleville West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Fournie, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Belleville West's loss dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for Christian Brothers, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11-1 record this season.

Belleville West will square off against Edwardsville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christian Brothers, they will face off against Gateway Legacy Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cadets are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
