It seems as if
Sony Michel has been playing high school football forever.
A youth league phenom, Michel made waves in the fall of 2009 when he burst onto the scene at
American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) as an eighth-grader.

That year, he rushed for 1,825 yards and 18 touchdowns and hasn't really looked back since, accumulating 5,480 rushing yards and 66 career touchdowns.
However, it hasn't always been an easy road for Michel.
The summer before his sophomore year, Michel tore his ACL, forcing him to be sidelined for his entire tenth-grade season. But Michel's injury was hardly a speed bump in his recruiting process.
As a junior, he returned with authority, posting the highest average yards per carry (9.72) of his career.
While for years, speculation insisted that Michel would stay local and play for Miami, Michel made a commitment before his senior season to Georgia.
It appears as if the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Michel is intent on going out as a champion.
American Heritage is 6-1 and is fresh off a 60-21 victory over Bolles which required a running clock in the second half — a stunning outcome for Bolles, one of the state's top programs.
The No. 2-ranked team in Florida's Class 5A, American Heritage could ride Michel's legs all the way to Orlando in December for a shot at a state title.
