According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, junior
Milan Cadet of
Romeoville (Ill.) is breaking away from the pack at the top of the national receiving yardage leaderboard.
Through 14 games, Cadet has pulled down 132 receptions for 2,196 yards – an average of 16.6 per catch – with 28 touchdowns. Few on the leaderboard come close to Cadet's 156.9 receiving yards per game.
Cadet opened the season with 10 catches for 217 yards and two scores in a 38-8 win over Plainfield Central (Plainfield) and continued for seven straight games of 100 yards or better. That included a 257-yard performance with four TDs against Minooka on Sept. 8.
Maya Calfee of
St. Francis (Watsonville, Calif.) is second on the list with both 1,891 yards and 135.1 yards per game. Thirteen of Calfee's 14 games this season have seen her eclipse the century mark for receiving yards, including a game with 212 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-16 win over Alisal (Salinas) on Sept. 8.
The junior three-sport athlete also has 18 interceptions for the Sharks.
Shadow Hills (Indio, Calif.) senior
Xitlalli Fregoso comes in with 1,620 yards and national-best 30 touchdowns for the Knights. Her latest performance was a career-high 146 yards on seven catches with three TDs in a 32-0 win over La Quinta on Sept. 15.
Fregoso, who holds offers from Hope International University and Norco College, has more than 3,100 receiving yards and 55 touchdowns for her career to go along with 25 interceptions on defense.
