For the third time this fall, Gehrig Dieter has placed his name in the Indiana football record book.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior wide receiver snared eight passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as Washington (South Bend, Ind.) rebounded from last week's 6-0 loss to defeat talented Mishawaka, 37-13.
The three touchdown catches gave him 43 for his career, tying the state record held by Sam Logan of South Newton (Kentland) from 1998-2001.
Previously Dieter had set state - and national - records with 437 receiving yards in a single game and a state record with 3,615 career receiving yards.
Sophomore quarterback Daigien Morgan (6-0, 185) performed like an escape artist as he constantly eluded tacklers to complete 16 of 29 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns.Senior running back David Perkins, a Notre Dame recruit, ran 16 times for 101 yards and scored on a 23-yard pass from Morgan.
