What to watch: A Saturday afternoon showdown between the No. 1 and 2 teams in this week's Chicago-area newspaper rankings. After beating previously unbeaten St. Rita (Chicago) last week by a 24-3 score, a Mount Carmel (5-0) win would all but clinch at least a share of the Catholic Blue Conference title for the first time since 2010. On the other hand, a Loyola (5-0) victory would put the Ramblers in strong position to win their third-consecutive outright crown.
Just the facts: Loyola has won four of its last five games played against Mount Carmel, including a 30-27 win over the eventual Class 8A state champion last season. … Both Mount Carmel and Loyola are charter members of the Chicago Catholic League, which was founded in 1912.
