Since 2006, the Thunderbirds have won seven Class 4A titles in nine championship game appearances. Timpview finished unbeaten three times and ended the year ranked in the Top 3 of the state rankings eight times.
Our data suggests that Timpview's success and consistency is best among Utah high school football teams since 2006. We've developed a points system to determine which teams stand out among them all and the T-Birds lead the pack with 369 total points.
Bingham is not far behind. The Miners are second with 341 points after winning five Class 5A titles in six championship game appearances since 2006. Bingham has finished with unbeaten records three times during that stretch and ended the year as the state's No. 1 ranked team five times.
Alta comes in third. The Hawks dominated Class 5A from 2006 to 2008, winning back-to-back state titles in three championship game appearances. Alta also finished ranked no. 1 or no. 2 overall for consecutive seasons.
Five of the Top 10 Utah high school football teams since 2006 have won multiple state titles in that span and eight schools have made multiple championship game appearances.
Here is how the points break down:
1. 20 for a state title
2. 10 for state championship game appearance
3. Other points are based on where a team finished in the final
MaxPreps Utah Football Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall, it would receive 25 points. If it finished 25th overall, the team would get one point. No points are awarded if the team did not finish in the Top 25.
