Nashua North (Nashua) captured the first high school football state championship in school history last year and begins the season No. 1 in our preseason rankings.
Although the Titans lost eight all-conference players, they return three other players who earned honorable mention status. Nashua North appeared in two previous state championship games in 2009 and 2010, but had not won a state title since opening in 2002.
Lebanon finished 6-1, but the loss came via forfeit in the Division II semifinals as a result of having to quarantine most of its players due to COVID-19. Lebanon, which begins the season ranked No. 2, gave up just 26 points in six games.
Souhegan, which defeated Plymouth for the Division II championship, starts the season ranked No. 3. The Sabers averaged 37 points per game in posting an 8-0 record.
