Could Davis be building the next Class 5A soccer dynasty?
The two-time defending state champions look like an early favorite to claim the Class 5A crown yet again. Davis raced off to a 6-0 start in August behind a talented roster that includes five players committed to play for NCAA Division I schools and a defense that has allowed just one goal in the first month of the season.
The Darts headline our list at MaxPreps of Utah girls soccer teams you should watch this season in each UHSAA classification:
Class 5A Davis (Kaysville): No other team can match the dominance the Darts (6-0) have displayed on both ends of the pitch. Davis has scored a state-best 47 goals in six matches. BYU commits Olivia Wade and Mikayla Colohan have combined for 24 of those goals. On the other end, the Darts have surrendered just one goal (.167 goals against average) so far this season.
Weber (Pleasant View): The Warriors, a former region rival, could be the best competition for Davis this season. Weber also raced out to a 6-0 start before suffering its first loss. The Warriors (6-1) have excelled in close matches, going 5-1 in games decided by a single goal.
Lone Peak (Highland): Tough defense is one again a trademark for the Knights. Lone Peak (4-2) has allowed just four goals in six matches (.067 GAA).

Class 4AAlta (Sandy): Scoring on the Hawks is never an easy task. Once again, Alta (5-1) boasts one of the state's top defenses. They have surrendered just two goals in six matches (.333 GAA). Goalkeeper
Sam Myers leads the state with five shutouts.
Bonneville (Washington Terrace): The Lakers have long been a fixture as a Class 4A title contender. Bonneville won three state titles in five years from 2008 to 2012 and has another team that could win again this year. Nine different players have scored goals to power a balanced offense that has helped the Lakers (7-0) stay perfect in August.
Skyline (Salt Lake City): The Eagles finally broke a string of second-place finishes with a Class 4A title last fall. Skyline (4-1) graduated several top players from a year ago, but still remain potent on offense. Cassidy Orr has stepped up to lead the attack with eight goals through five games.
Class 3A Dixie (St. George): Tenacious defense has the Flyers looking like a serious threat to win their first Class 3A title since 2013. Dixie (4-0) has surrendered just one goal in four matches (.025 GAA). Five different players have scored multiple goals for the Flyers, led by Starlee Woodbury with six goals.
Logan: Fresh off winning their first ever Class 3A title, the Grizzlies have plenty of pieces in place to make another run. Logan (3-2) has weathered a tough early schedule but has top offensive player Demi Lopez ready to build on a season a year ago where she had 19 goals and 10 assists.
Class 2A Waterford (Sandy): After winning four state titles in five years from 2008 to 2012, the Ravens have endured a three-year championship drought. That all could change this season. Waterford has knocked off other potential Class 2A title contenders Millard and Manti already this season and has yielded just two goals in five games (.400 GAA).
Parowan: Generating offense isn't a problem for the Rams. Parowan (5-0) has scored 23 goals through five matches heading into September.
Autumn Rogerson leads the way, accounting for 11 of those strikes. If the Rams can keep it up, they could challenge for their first Class 2A title in October.
