Transfer denials were upheld Thursday for two high-profile Class of 2027 stars from Texas as appeals were rejected from University of Georgia quarterback commit
Colton Nussmeier and
John Meredith, considered by many to be among the top cornerback prospects in the country.
Separate district executive committees had ruled each ineligible based on what they deemed as athletically-motivated transfers, something not allowed under UIL guidelines.
Where each player goes from here is unclear.

Nussmeier's ruling at the state level was more lopsided than the district committee's 3-3 decision, which reverted to the school's recommendation.
Meredith's appeal was based on a 5-2 district committee decision.
Nussmeier is regarded as one of the top quarterbacks nationally in the Class of
2027 according to 247Sports. He threw for more than 1,300 yards
and 12 touchdowns last season as Marcus went 5-4. In three seasons, he
has thrown for more than 3,500 yards and 32 scores.
The
son of former NFL quarterback and current New Orleans Saints offensive
coordinator Doug Nussmeier, Colton's brother Garrett is a quarterback
for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Meredith is the No. 1 corner in the nation and No. 2 player overall in the
Class of 2027 according to 247Sports. He has more than 40 offers including
Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Texas
A&M and Texas Tech.
