is the final MaxPreps and JJHuddle boys soccer athlete of the week and
team of the week awards in volleyball for the 2016-2017 school year.
Each week during the season (regular and post), there was a fan-generated contest to tab weekly winners. Each weekly winner receives awards (bracelets and certificates).
How does it work? Fans
nominate top performances (send emails to efrantz@maxpreps.com) and
nominees are also be selected from those schools that report stats on
MaxPreps. We announce the weekly finalists (up to 10) on MaxPreps and JJHuddle every Tuesday and voting will be conducted in a special poll. Voting ceases at noon on Monday. The winners are be announced the next day along with the next week's nominees.
You can vote as many times as you want. It's a competition.
We will hold weekly awards for winter sports in boys and girls basketball.
Week 12 Volleyball Athlete of the Week
* Jonni Parker, Miami East (Casstown) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS) Had
26 kills, 15 assists, 14 digs and five aces in a D-III state final win
over Tuscarawas Valley. Had 21 kills, 13 assists and 10 digs in a state
semifinal win over Gilmour Academy.
Week 12 Volleyball Team of the Week
* Miami East (Casstown) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)The Vikings outlasted Tuscarawas Valley 3-2 in the D-III state final to win their third state title (all since 2011).

The Sailors beat host Rocky River 2-0 in the finals to win their
second straight Rocky River Invitational title. Vermilion is 9-0.

* Kamden Dulesky, Bridgeport (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Had a state-best 26 blocks in a 3-2 loss to Barnesville. Had 18 blocks
in a 3-1 loss to Shadyside. Also had 52 kills in four matches last week.
Week 4 Volleyball Team of the Week
* Southeastern (Chillicothe) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
The Panthers notched arguably the program’s biggest win in 20 years with
a five set win over previously unbeaten Unioto in SVC play.
Week 5 Volleyball Athlete of the Week
* Summer Sweeting, South Central (Greenwich) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Had 25 assists and surpassed 1,000 for her career in a 3-0 win over Western Reserve.

The Rockets beat Jackson in the championship to win the Apple Festival Tournament.

* Sidney (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
The Yellow Jackets had several players reach milestones. Carrie Nuss had
28 assists in a 3-0 win over Trotwood-Madison to become the program’s
all-time assists leader. In the game before that Amanda Thomas broke the
school record for career kills and Celena Taborn broke the single
season school record for blocks in a 3-1 loss to Lima Bath.

*Lexi Smith, Notre Dame (Portsmouth) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Had 21 kills and surpassed 1,000 for her career in a 3-0 win over Symmes Valley.

*Patrick Henry (Hamler, Ohio) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
The Patriots beat Swanton 3-0 to win the school’s first NWOAL title in
any sport since 2010. It just the second league title in volleyball and
first since 2005.
Week 8 Volleyball Athlete of the Week
* Whitney Dodds, Arlington (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Senior had 15 digs to set a school record for career digs (1,115) in a
3-0 win over Lima Central Catholic. Also had three aces to extend her
career record in that category to 171.

* Notre Dame Academy (Toledo) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
The Eagles handed Toledo St. Ursula its first loss ever in TRAC play
(founded in 2011) with a 3-1 victory in the conference championship.
Notre dame won the last two sets 26-24 and 36-34.

* Lauren Park, West Holmes (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Sophomore and OCC offensive player of the year had a state-best 43 kills in a 3-2 win over Philo.

* Portsmouth West (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
The Senators won the program’s third sectional title in history with a 3-0 win over South Point in D-III.
Week 10 Volleyball Athlete of the Week
* Alaina Kelley, Norwalk (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Had a state-best 64 assists in a 3-2 D-II district semifinal win over
Oak Harbor. Had 47 assists in a 3-2 district final win over Lexington.
Week 10 Volleyball Team of the Week
* Gallia Academy (Gallipolis) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
The Blue Angels set a school record for wins in a season (25) and
advanced to the school’s first district final with a come-from-behind
3-2 win over Unioto in the D-II district semifinals. Gallia Academy
finished the season No. 9 in the state poll and won back-to-back OVC and
sectional titles.

* Armania Heckenmueller, Mount Notre Dame (Cincinnati) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Had a state-best 62 assists in a 3-2 regional final win over Cincinnati
Ursuline and had 36 in a 3-0 regional semifinal win over Loveland.
Week 11 Volleyball Team of the Week
* Highland (Sparta) (FINAL VOTING RESULTS)
Playing in their third regional title in four years, the Scots advanced
to the program’s first state tournament with a 3-2 win over Huron in
D-III.
