The
Polynesian Football Classic continues to grow each year with big-time
games and the 2019 showcase is led by a showdown between No. 3
St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and
Liberty (Henderson, Nev.).
Things
kick off Friday night and on Saturday three games will be on tap with
all four games at Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and you
can watch all the action

opened up with two tough games and face its toughest test of the
year against the No. 3 team in the country. They have to take down
Southern California power St. John Bosco to avoid an 0-3 start. The
Braves have been rolling this year. Uiagalelei has shown why he's the
No. 1 rated quarterback in the country as the reigning California
Gatorade Football Player of the Year has throw for nearly 600 yards and
seven touchdowns. St. John Bosco has dominated two big-time
programs beating DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) and Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey,
N.J.) to open the 2019 season outscoring them by a combined score of
91-28.

Top Players
This
could be the season a Nevada team finally tests Bishop Gorman (Las
Vegas) in the playoffs. Desert Pines is loaded and rolled
past last year's 4A state runner-up Bishop Manogue (Reno) 34-11 in its
opener. Washington checks in as No. 1 rated tight end in the Class of 2020 and
they have more than 10 players with FBS offers. After starting
the year 0-2 Logan bounced back with a 44-21 win over Preston (Idaho)
and has to beat a very talented Jaguars team to get back to .500.

Saguaro
looks to bounce back after an 18-10 Honor Bowl loss against a very good
Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) squad last week. Faith Lutheran
started its season out with a lopsided 40-17 loss against Mountain
Pointe (Phoenix) and faces another Arizona opponent on Saturday. The
Sabercats have won six consecutive state titles and with the talent they
have this year expect them to be in contention to make it seven in a row even with the new Open Division in Arizona.

This one is featured in our
Top 10 Games of the Week
and the Vegas power has a couple of huge games coming up. They need to
make a statement against its last two out-of-state opponents and it
starts with a very talented Servite team in the Saturday nightcap. If they win big against the Friars, and answer that
with a win against the defending Utah 6A state champs Lone Peak
(Highland), there's a good chance they jump back into the Top 25.
Servite opened its season with a 48-7 win over JW North (Riverside,
Calif.) and the Gaels had their 11-game winning streak snapped against
No. 8 St. Louis (Honolulu) in the Aloha Football Classic last
week.
