Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) head coach John Lambourne is using a mountain-climbing theme to inspire his team this season.
In keeping with that theme, photographer
Dave Argyle decided to stage his Preseason Top 25 photo shoot with the Miners at Black Rock, which is located on the south shore of the Great Salt Lake.
According to Argyle, Lambourne liked this location because he wants to convey to his team that even though they have had considerable success in the past, there is still more climbing to do. The photo shoot was done in late April and involved seven of the Miners' top players along with Lambourne.
"In the shots of them climbing they were really only about 10 feet up," Argyle said. "I had my daughter acting as an assistant and she was holding a reflector to get some good light on them."
The players and Lambourne even had time to have some fun, as they took a group shot of them in funny poses around a Volkswagen convertible Bug, which belonged to the parents of one of the players.
"Several of the players arrived in (the Bug) and they were all anxious to get a photo of themselves goofing off in it," Argyle said of the Volkswagen.
The photo shoot was easy to schedule because Argyle and Lambourne happen to be neighbors and longtime friends.
