The high school football season in Kansas came to a close last weekend.
Andale was among the winners, beating
Holton in the Class 3A state championship game at Hutchinson Community College's Gowans Stadium. That victory helped propel the Indians to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.
One of six Kansas high schools to finish the 2022 season with a perfect 13-0 record, Andale upended the Wildcats 28-0 to claim its fourth straight state title and extend its winning streak to 51 games. The Indians, who haven't lost since
Pratt eliminated them from the postseason in 2018, outscored their playoff opposition 220-6.
Mill Valley (Shawnee) wrapped up its fourth straight Class 5A state title by doubling the score on
Maize 28-14. Head coach Joel Applebee's program finishes the season at No. 3 while Maize ends at No. 5.
