6. (8) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 24-1Few teams in America would have survived a week like the one Mater Dei just experienced. The Monarchs rattled off three victories in four days over St. John Bosco (Bellflower), Eisenhower (Rialto) and Westchester (Los Angeles) – teams that have combined for 48 victories this season.
7. (4) St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.), 19-1The Friars saw their 83-game win streak
come to an end Friday in a 47-38 loss to St. Benedict's Prep (Newark). Another big test awaits Saturday at the Primetime Shootout against Linden, who knocked off then-No. 15 Math Civics & Sciences (Philadelphia) over the weekend.
8. (9) DeSoto (Texas), 27-2Not many programs have cranked out victories on a more consistent basis than DeSoto in recent years. The Eagles are approaching their seventh 30-win season in the last eight years.
9. (3) Whitney Young (Chicago), 18-3The Dolphins are probably out of the national championship picture following back-to-back losses to Chicago Public Schools rivals. But going through No. 2 Simeon en route to a Class 4A state title would still be considered a sweet season for Whitney Young.
10. (10) Long Beach Poly (Calif.), 22-2Roschon Prince did his thing with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 60-54 win over St. John Bosco (Bellflower) on Saturday at the Nike Extravaganza.
