Nick Calzaretta runs over defensive back.
Redwood running back powers his way for a 61-yard touchdown run. When thinking of football's biggest hits, one imagines a linebacker or defensive back laying the pads to running back or receiver. Rarely are the fortunes reversed.
Meet
Nick Calzaretta.
Unfortunately for this well-positioned and intentioned defensive back, he did. And it wasn't pretty.
The bullish 5-foot-11, 198-pound back from
Redwood (Larkspur, Calif.) ran through the lad, who gamely got back to his feet but had to watch Calzaretta slalom down the sideline for a 61-yard touchdown.
This is something Calzaretta has been doing a lot this season, especially of late. He's rushed 153 times for 1,793 yards (11.7 average) and 31 touchdowns in 2016, but 970 of it on 41 carries (23.6 average) and 16 scores has come in the last three games. Redwood is 7-1.
