Hoophall Classic action shakes up MaxPreps Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings

Etiwanda, Morris Catholic and Sidwell Friends all rise after wins in Springfield.

There was movement near the top of the MaxPreps Top 25 girls basketball rankings after a busy Martin Luther King Jr. weekend highlighted by action at the Spalding Hoophall Classic.

Defending national champion Etiwanda (Calif.) moved up five spots to No. 13 in this wee's MaxPreps Top 25 high school girls basketball rankings after a 75-64 win over No. 16 Incarnate Word Academy (St. Louis, Mo.) on Monday at the Hoophall Classic. 

Etiwanda's victory snapped Incarnate Word Academy's 141-game win streak that stretched over five seasons. Cal commit Aliyahna Morris led the way for the Eagles with 26 points while LSU commit Grace Knox added 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. Indiana commit Nevaeh Caffey led the charge for the Red Knights in the loss with a game-high 32 points.

No. 1 Ontario Christian (Ontario, Calif.) held serve in its Hoophall Classic game with an 87-75 win over storied Christ the King (Middle Village, N.Y.). Kaleena Smith had 26 points and 12 assists while freshman Tati Griffin added 26 points.

No. 2 Morris Catholic (Denville, N.J.) and No. 8 Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.) each climbed one spot in this week's rankings after victories over No. 9 Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), which dropped seven spots.

Alanna Neale had 15 points and Dani Robinson added 10 in the win over Christ the King.

2. Morris Catholic (Denville, N.J.)

Daniella Matus had 16 points, including four 3-pointers, in the win over Mitty at Hoophall.

3. Hebron Christian (Dacula, Ga.)
Record: 17-1 | Last week: 4
Danielle Osho had 24 points and 12 rebounds while Ja’kerra Butler added 20 and 12 in a 69-64 win over Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.).

4. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)
Record: 20-2 | Last week: 6
Kaeli Wynn shined in a 61-39 MLK Showcase win over Windward (Los Angeles) on Monday, dropping 20 points with nine rebounds and five assists. Lani Stores and Addie Deal each added 13 points.

5. Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.)
Record: 13-1 | Last week: 6
The Mustangs picked up three wins last week, including an 84-38 win over Nazareth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) that came into the contest 13-1.

6. Bradley Central (Cleveland, Tenn.)

A nice 79-50 bounce-back win against Central Pointe Christian Academy (Kissimmee, Fla.) takes the sting out of the Bears' first loss, an 80-59 defeat to Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.). 

7. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.)
Record: 17-1 | Last week: 8
Jerzy Robinson had 31 points in a 95-31 win over Chaminade (West Hills), leading four players in double figures Wednesday.

8. Sidwell Friends (Washington, D.C.)

The Quakers have a trio of games this week, including a tough matchup Thursday against Bullis (Potomac, Md.).

9. Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.)
Record: 12-3 | Last week: 2
Nine regular season games remain for the Monarchs, who should still be among the front-runners to come out of Northern California in the Open Division despite losing McKenna Woliczko for the season.

10. Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.)
Record: 19-0 | Last week: 11
Maya Makalusky had 26 points and Kennedy Holman added 12 in a 51-17 win over Westfield on Saturday.

11. Lawrence Central (Indianapolis, Ind.)
Record: 18-1 | Last week: 12
New Mexico commit Laila Abdurraqib came up big in the second half of the Bears' win over Purcell Marian on Monday.

12. Bishop Ireton (Alexandria, Va.)
Record: 14-3 | Last week: 10
 The Cardinals split a pair over the weekend, beating Bullis 63-57 before losing 63-52 to Westtown (West Chester, Pa.). Nyla Brooks is averaging 17.5 points per game.

13. Etiwanda (Calif.)
Record: 16-4 | Last week: 18
Aliyah Phillips had 16 in the nine-point win over Incarnate Word Academy.

14. Princess Anne (Virginia Beach, Va.)

Tristan Rickenbacker had 21 points while Jizelle James added 19 and Micah Ojo chipped in 15 in a 78-34 win over Salem (Virginia Beach) on Friday.

15. Johnston (Iowa)

Amani Jenkins had 22 and Jenica Lewis added 19 in a 66-32 win over Ankeny on Friday.

16. Incarnate Word Academy (St. Louis, Mo.)

The Red Knights look to start a new win streak Wednesday against St. Dominic (O'Fallon).

Emerie Bohanon had 30 points, including seven 3-pointers, in a 68-46 win over Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) on Friday.

Notched three runaway wins over the past week, including a 95-7 victory over Sandy.

Duke commit Emilee Skinner dropped 24 while Makaydi Jenks added 13 and Brooke Smith and Taylee Munford each added 10 in a 72-18 win Monday over Judge Memorial Catholic (Salt Lake City).

Nora Ezike had 29 points, 13 rebounds and five steals in a 72-62 win Saturday over St. Charles East.

The Golden Eagles could be the biggest challenger to Archbishop Mitty in Northern California's Open Division. They are battle-tested with wins this season over teams from Arizona, Florida, Oregon and Pennsylvania.

Sophomore Finley Parker had 29 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead four players in double figures Monday in a 74-60 win over Holy Innocents Episcopal (Atlanta).

The Cadets bounced back with an 88-22 win over Longwood Prep Academy (Bronx, N.Y.) on Monday after a tough 52-51 loss to South Shore (Brooklyn, N.Y.) on Sunday at the Rose Classic Super Jam.
