1. (Last week 1) De La Salle (Concord) (6-0)The Spartans had a bye. The last effort was an emphatic one, a 35-10 rout of Southern California power Servite (Anaheim) to extend ther winning streak to 61 games. The Spartans seek to win their ongoing state-record 26th consecutive
North Coast Section title and a fifth successive CIF State Open title.

2. (2) Folsom (6-0)The Bulldogs opened defense of their Delta River League title by belting
previous No. 4 Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) 35-0. The defense, headed by
Lukas Hendricks and
Eddie Flores, sparkled with batted-down passes and quarterback pressure.
Jake Browning
passed for 362 yards and three touchdowns but was intercepted four
times (he had five total coming in). Still, he made some of the best
throws of his career for touchdowns. The last loss was to De La Salle in the 2012 NorCal Open after a 14-0 season start.

The Padres routed Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco) 50-3 on homecoming in a West Catholic Athletic League game. Serra piled up 490 yards and allowed 104. The loss was 21-14 to No. De La Salle in an opener.

4. (4) Elk Grove (6-0)The Thundering Herd rolled Laguna Creek (Elk Grove) 46-6 behind RB
Wadus Parker (243 yards, three touchdowns) and a dominant defense.
Shaunard Harts,

interception 99 yards for a touchdown in the Delta Valley Conference
opener.

5. (5) Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) (6-0)The Eagles opened Delta River League play with a 63-21 rout of Sheldon (Sacramento) as
Deaundre Terrell passed for two touchdowns and
Ian Broom rushed for 216 yards and four scores. The defense was again strong.

6. (7) Bellarmine (San Jose) (4-1)The Bells beat previous No. 22 St. Francis (Mountain View) 21-14 in West Catholic Athletic League play.
Anthony Guttadauro scored three times and had a late fourth-down stop. Next is a measure of revenge against St. Ignatius (San Francisco), which prevailed in the Central Coast Section Open championship game. The loss was 17-7 to No. 3 Serra.

7. (8) Granite Bay (5-1)The Grizzlies opened defense of their Sierra Foothill League title with a 42-28 victory over Roseville.
Ben Smith rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown and

8. (9) Marin Catholic (Kentfield) (7-0)The Wildcats continue to hum through the Marin County Athletic League after beating Novato 55-0.

(10) Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) (5-0)The Monarchs beat previously ranked Valley Christian (San Jose) 14-13 in a West Catholic Athletic League contest, allowing only a blocked punt for a score, though the extra point was missed after a celebration penalty pushed the kick to the 35. Otherwise it was a shutout effort.

The Golden Eagles opened Sierra Foothill League play with a 42-6 rout of
Woodcreek (Roseville), storming to a 42-0 halftime lead and playing
subs the rest of the way.
Dylan Kainrath chugged for 169 yards and four scores, and
Jonah Mekebri had two of his team's six sacks. He also had an interception.

12. (6) Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (5-1)The Trojans were beaten in a Delta River League opener 35-0 by top-ranked Folsom.
Josh Wellman rushed for 109 yards and
Drew Lackowski had two of his team's four interceptions. Earlier wins include Grant (Sacramento) 20-17, Rocklin, 24-21 and Vacaville 28-14.

13. Clayton Valley Charter (Concord) (5-1)The Eagles rolled College Park (Pleasant Hill) 71-14 in a Diablo Valley League contest.
Miles Harrison rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns and caught a scoring pass. The loss was to No. 1 De La Salle in an opener.

14. (14) Deer Valley (Antioch) (6-0)The Wolverines rolled Freedom (Oakley) 35-7 in a Bay Valley League opener.
