High school football: Marshall Manning makes prep debut, David Gabriel Georges takes first touch for a TD as No. 12 Baylor scrimmages No. 7 Buford

All eyes were on son of Hall of Famer Peyton Manning who came into action during second quarter.

Marshall Manning, the son of Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, saw his first high school action for No. 12 Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.) in a scrimmage against defending MaxPreps National Champion No. 7 Buford (Ga.).

The freshman, who will be the backup quarterback to four-star senior Keegan Croucher, didn't complete a pass with the varsity unit but all eyes were on the son the two-time Super Bowl champion. Marshall Manning stepped in during the second quarter wearing No. 16, the same number Peyton wore in college at Tennessee. He later got action with the junior varsity squad.

Baylor running back David Gabriel Georges, the reigning MaxPreps Player of the Year, looked to be in midseason form after taking his first touch 54 yards to the house for a Red Raiders' touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. The five-star Tennessee commit rushed for 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns in a 12-0 season where Baylor grabbed the Division II Class AAA state crown.

Buford is coming off a 15-0 season where they captured the Class AAAAAA state title in addition to the MaxPreps National Championship.

The Wolves came out on top of the scrimmage 20-13 as James Madison commit D.J. Hunter threw a touchdown to Ian Chafin while Arkansas pledge Jameer Cantrell rushed for a score. The Wolves also returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Buford opens its season Aug. 22 vs. Gainesville (Ga.), ranked No. 38 in our expanded top 100. Baylor starts its season Aug. 20 against Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, Tenn.), the nation's No. 14 team.
