Win over Central helped bring the school first championship since 1982.

In 2018, Central (Phenix City) won the Class 7A state title with a 52-7 win over Thompson.

In 2019, the same two teams met again for the title, but this time the rolls were reversed as Thompson got revenge with a 40-14 victory. Head coach Mark Freeman's squad finishes at No. 1 in the state of Alabama, with Central right behind them.

Oxford sits at No. 4 overall. The Yellow Jackets scored with 23 seconds left to go in the 6A state championship game as they beat Spanish Fort 14-13.
