On Friday, Feb. 10 the MaxPreps Travel Team traveled to
South Pointe (Rock Hill, S.C.) High School to honor their football team on a tremendous season and national ranking. As part of the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, South Pointe held a presentation at halftime of the boy's varsity basketball game to honor their beloved football team.
At halftime, Sergeant Brian Bahneman of the South Carolina Army National Guard presented the nationally ranked rafter banner as well as the highly coveted Army National Guard national ranking trophy to Head Coach Strait Herron. The trophy consists of a Minuteman statue symbolizing discipline, hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, characteristics the Army National Guard embrace. Coach Herron was very appreciative in receiving this prestigious award.
He talked about what it means to achieve success on the football field as well as the honor it is to be recognized by MaxPreps and the Army National Guard for a second straight year. After the trophy presentation, pictures and interviews were done with the players and coaches.
The Stallions finished the season with a 14-1 record, capping off their season by winning their third straight state championship. MaxPreps ranked the Stallions No. 105 nationally, out of more than 16,000 high school varsity football teams nationwide.
Congratulations Coach Herron and the Stallions on your memorable championship season! We look forward to many more!
