Nationally-ranked and top 6A seed Corner Canyon has little trouble with Syracuse, lower seeds rule top two divisions.

St. John's (DC) is the only new team to join this week's Top 25 and No. 1 Mater Dei (CA) finished the regular season 10-0 after beating JSerra Catholic (CA) 51-14.

Corner Canyon climbed in the National Top 25 rankings by MaxPreps to No. 23.

Iversyn Tapusoa scored on a 15-yard pass from Izaak Zimmermann midway through the third quarter and East's defense did the rest in a 20-16 win over Bingham Friday night in a Utah 6A quarterfinal game.

With the score tied at 7-7, Tupuosa scored on a 4-yard run to give East (10-3), the sixth seed, a 14-7 lead. Third-seed Bingham (8-3) tied it on a Troy Mehn 14-14 before halftime. Tupusoa put his team in front for good in the third quarter.

In other 6A action, top seed Corner Canyon showed why its ranked 23rd nationally and No. 1 in the bracket with a 56-0 win over Syracuse. The other quarterfinal games didn't go according to planned, as seventh-seed American Fork beat No. 2 Herriman and 20th-seed Lone Peak knocked off No. 5 Kearns 37-19.

The 5A division was similar. No. 1 seed Salem Hills won 37-0, but No. 12 Orem, No. 11 Lehi and No. 10 Timpview all defeated higher seeds.
