1. Bentonville
Coach: Jody Grant
2014 finish: 9-4
Team previewAfter losing the first four games of the season last year, the Tigers sent coach Barry Lunney into retirement in style by winning the final nine games of the season, including a victory over Fayetteville for the Class 7A state championship. The title was the second in a row for Bentonville and the fourth since 2008. Lunney announced his retirement in January, ending a 10-year run that saw him lead the Tigers to a 97-25 record. The change in head coaches should be seamless, as new head coach Jody Grant was the defensive coordinator under Lunney for nine seasons. The Tigers return nine starters from last year's group, including senior quarterback
Kasey Ford (6-foot-4, 240 pounds), cornerback
Tyrone Mahone (6-0, 170) and safety
Logan Darby (5-10, 165). Mahone ranks as the state's top defensive back, according to 247Sports, while Ford is the top pro-style quarterback.
