Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Ashlinn James of
Assumption (Louisville) is the 2025-26 MaxPreps Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 5-foot-8 senior point guard led the Rockets to a 29-6 record and runner-up finish in the Kentucky state tournament.
For the season, James averaged around 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals per game.
